Community Forests
What We’re Doing
Helping communities take ownership of their forested landscapes and manage the spaces according to hyperlocal objectives.
Our Goal
Enhance quality of life, enrich cultural and spiritual heritage, and strengthen economies from Oregon to Maine with the tangible value provided by well-managed local forest resources.
Community Forests: A Quick-Start Guide summarizes the lessons learned by community forest managers across the country, covering key topics from acquisition and resident engagement to stewardship and funding, and offers a one-stop-shop for community forest resources created by TPL and our partners. This Guide offers a starting place for municipalities, land trusts, tribes, or community advocates interested in exploring community forest opportunities locally.
