Where you live shouldn’t determine your health—but too often, it does. Air quality, heat exposure, heart disease risk, and obesity are all shaped by place. Zip code can matter more than genetic code when it comes to health. That’s why equity isn’t just about building more parks—it’s about creating high-quality green spaces where they’re needed most, alongside the people who live there.

  • We Measure What Matters

We’ve created proprietary databases and modeling techniques that help us pinpoint the best locations for new parks, maximizing both health benefits and park access. We gather data about the amenities and quality of public green spaces, and we track participation. Cross-tabulating that data with changes over time to communal rates of chronic illnesses, such as heart disease, diabetes, depression, and anxiety, as well as to school attendance and student behavior trends, gives us a picture of the overall health outcomes attributable to the green spaces we make accessible to people. Our ParkScore index is the national gold-standard comparison of park systems across the 100 most populated cities in the United States.

  • We Help Communities Take Charge of Their Health

People know the value of parks to their health and happiness. Over the past 30 years, they’ve overwhelming supported local funding measures to ensure their communities invest in quality green space. Getting those measures on the ballot takes more than policy expertise. It takes deep trust and long-term engagement with thought leaders and partners in districts across the country.
