Planning
The Planning team at TPL strategizes creation of equitable, resilient, and high-quality park and open space systems. With the support of a multidisciplinary team of climate, health, economics, and geospatial experts, TPL planners provide park departments, conservancies, and land trusts in urban and rural areas with the tools to implement strategies in conservation and equitable park access. Planners specifically analyze land use conservation and stewardship opportunities within the context of economic, environmental, and social trends and with a social equity lens. Most importantly, planners work across the Lab and TPL field offices with a people-first approach to cultivate existing and build new relationships throughout communities in the U.S.
Strategic, comprehensive plan that prioritizes community input and equity analyses to inform visioning and short- and long-term strategies for municipal park systems.
Community driven landscape planning process where TPL convenes a team of local experts to set conservation goals and use mapping technology to analyze and display information to create recommendations about where parks, open space, and trails can have multiple benefits for the community.
Regional or state-level landscape analysis of outdoor recreation environments to identify gaps and opportunities for growth. Conclusions and recommendations are informed by geospatial analysis; policy, program, and funding research; and stakeholder engagement.
Collaborative strategizing for cities, small towns, and rural communities depending upon need. May include custom parks research with a focus on access and equity to look at resource distribution (park acreage, geographic location, available features & amenities), park quality, and programming.
