What We’re Doing
Creating more green space, recreational opportunities, and affordable housing for Vermonters to enjoy.

Our Goal

Where Conservation Meets Community Housing

Lack of affordable housing is widely recognized as a significant barrier to economic development in Wolcott, where residents face some of the highest housing stress scores in Lamoille County and limited opportunities for local homeownership. At the same time, Wolcott has been repeatedly hit by extreme flooding—with 17 federally declared disaster events over the past two decades—that has damaged homes, strained infrastructure, and underscored the need for resilient community planning.

In response to Wolcott’s housing challenges and growing climate risks, we helped donate an affordable housing lot adjacent to the Wolcott Community Forest to Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity. The lot will support a permanently affordable home close to nature, and walkable to the elementary school. Together, the community forest and housing investment expand access to 735 acres of protected land, help buffer flooding, and support a healthier, more resilient future for Wolcott.
