Urban Orchard
What We Did
Worked with community members to design and create a multibenefit park and green infrastructure project in South Gate—a community in Southeast L.A. (SELA).
Our Goal
Provide a quality park within a 10-minute walk of the South Gate community and ensure Urban Orchard honors and supports its residents.

Trust for Public Land and research partners also facilitated a Participatory Action Research project to understand the risk of gentrification and displacement in the communities surrounding the Urban Orchard. Findings and recommendations helped guide the city on strategies that best position existing residents to benefit from these developments while promoting economic growth and prosperity in the area.
