Godsey Ridge Trail System

Winding through scenic terrain in eastern Tennessee, the Godsey Ridge Trail System provides a welcoming outdoor space for trail lovers of all experience levels. The trails are intended to serve as both a recreational destination and a community asset; encouraging physical activity, fostering a deeper appreciation for the environment, and offering a peaceful setting for everyday use. As part of a broader vision for connected green spaces, the system contributes to Red Bank’s growing network of trails and outdoor amenities.

Originally proposed in 1969, the trail finally came to fruition thanks to a collaboration with partners and generous support from L.L. Bean. This shared investment will expand access to high-quality outdoor spaces and strengthen community connections. Stewarded by local organizations and members of the Walk with Your Neighbor program, these pathways will remain active, well cared for, and full of recreational opportunities such as 5k runs, senior citizen programs, bird watching and mountain biking.

“The Red Bank community has demonstrated time and time again how much they value great public spaces and the countless health, economic, and social benefits that they offer,” shared Trust for Public Land’s Director of Welcoming Places Daniela Paz Peterson. “The Godsey Ridge Trail System exists today because of the visionary investment of local leaders and the support of committed partners. It enhances a growing network of trails that residents and visitors can enjoy for years to come.”

Because the trail system is funded through a grant contract with the State of Tennessee and stewarded by volunteers, the new trail is completely free to the community. The Godsey Ridge Trail System stands as a lasting investment in outdoor recreation, one that will serve the Red Bank community for generations of trail lovers.
