Astoria Hot Springs Park

Nestled within a scenic riverside landscape complete with nature trails and picnic spots, the Astoria Hot Springs Park renews people’s weary bodies and souls and reestablishes the bonds between family, friends, and neighbors. Although central to the cultural and recreational fabric of Jackson, Wyoming, for many years, Astoria Hot Springs almost lost its claim as a cherished outdoor escape.

The natural mineral soaking pools had attracted residents and visitors until the facility closed in the late 1990s, preventing public access. In 2012, Trust for Public Land worked with the local community on plans for a new Astoria Hot Springs featuring restored soaking pools and a nearly 100-acre riverfront park. TPL helped raise money to purchase the land and transfer it to the Astoria Conservancy, a local nonprofit that manages the hot springs.

Today visitors relax in hot soaking pools, a leisure pool, and a children’s pool, and enjoy gathering spaces such as a welcome center and snack shop. Future phases of park development will focus on the adjacent parkland, with continued community input to design park elements, such as a kiosk, event lawn, trails, and a natural playground.

Easy to get to, yet far removed from the hustle and bustle of daily life, Astoria remains a refuge for residents of the Jackson area, offering wellness and educational experiences. Generous philanthropic efforts ensure that admission to the hot springs facilities is affordable and open to the public.
