Joseph Stein

Joe is an investment professional with more than 25 years of experience.  He currently serves as Director of Quantitative Research for Natixis Investment Managers in Boston, where he develops and manages multi-asset investment solutions for institutional clients.  Prior to Natixis, Joe has held senior roles in investment management and software development at State Street, GMO, Putnam Investments, and Lehman Brothers.

Land conservation and the preservation of the natural environment have always been a guiding force in Joe’s life.  He previously served as a founding board member and treasurer for Speak for the Trees, which seeks to increase the size and health of Boston’s tree canopy with a focus on underserved neighborhoods.   He also served as board member and treasurer for The Food Project, which works at the intersection of food, youth, and community to build a stronger food system.

Joe currently volunteers as a trail steward with the Concord Land Trust and has helped advance numerous town initiatives with regard to sustainability.  He enjoys mountain and gravel biking, cross-country skiing, gardening, cooking, and jamming on his electric bass.  He lives in Concord, Massachusetts with his wife and two children.

Joe holds a BA in both Chemistry and Environmental Science from Wesleyan University, a Master of Engineering from Cornell University, and an MBA from the Wharton School.
