Valley Forge

Valley Forge marks a monumental episode in our nation’s history. It was here that General George Washington transformed 13 ragtag state militias into an invincible Continental Army that defeated Great Britain’s army, the greatest military force of that time.

In 1983, plans for the development of a for-profit museum threatened part of Valley Forge, which, along with its historic significance, is a rich landscape featuring a diverse array of plants and animals.

Trust for Public Land helped preserve 43 acres of the 3,500-acre Valley Forge National Historical Park, which enlightens history buffs eager to learn about Revolutionary War history and satiates outdoor enthusiasts, with many trails for running and biking and meadows perfect for picnicking.
