Mill River Park
What We’re Doing
Helping Connecticut’s second-biggest city build a brand-new park.
Encourage outdoor recreation and togetherness on public land.
In the center of Connecticut’s second-biggest city, Stamford, Mill River Park serves as a vital space for relaxation, education, and entertainment. At the simplest level, it provides an opportunity to stretch out and enjoy fresh air amid the city. Beyond that, the 12-acre park serves as a true community hub where folks can host events, attend educational workshops, and so much more.
In 1998, this park was just a dream among community organizers. In the early 2000s, plans started moving into place. And in 2006, it was time to bring the dream to life. Trust for Public Land was proud to partner with the City of Stamford and Fairfield County’s Community Foundation to raise the funds to bring this park into existence. Today, it has grown beyond expectations, with an event center, children’s carousel, ice skating rink, playground, and more.
