Trust for Public Land is championing efforts to expand and protect the iconic Bonneville Shoreline Trail (BST). Stretching nearly 300 miles from the Idaho border through Utah, this recreational gem traces the ancient rim of a vast prehistoric lakebed. Serving close to two million Utah residents and welcoming nine million annual visitors, the BST offers a vital connection to nature and recreation, right in the heart of the state.

Our efforts at Battle Creek Trailhead conserved 132 acres around this popular entry point, permanently safeguarding the parking lot and trailhead that connect visitors to not only the BST, but also cherished and popular local hikes, including Big Baldy, The “G” hike, and Battle Creek Falls. Just an hour from Salt Lake City and minutes from downtown Pleasant Grove, this area is a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike.

With rapid population growth and ongoing development in Pleasant Grove, protecting this land not only ensures the preservation of a recreational haven. It also supports the health of the Jordan River Basin, where water flows to Utah Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the state, and a popular spot for paddleboarding and kayaking.

By protecting and enhancing access the BST, Trust for Public Land is working to ensure that Utah’s natural beauty remains accessible for generations to come.
