Kim Woodford

Kim is a Commercial Sales Manager with Cleveland Public Power, where she is responsible for generating new business through large and industrial commercial power utility service.

Kim is also the founder and Principal consultant of Journey On Yonder LLC (JOY), a greenspace diversity equity and inclusion (DEI), community engagement advisory, and outdoor experience business. Her business activities centers at the intersection of DEI, health and wellness and environmental stewardship where she inspires Black and Brown people to find JOY through healthy experiences in nature.

Kim’s work has influenced hundreds of people, specifically African Americans to visit our local and national parks with enjoyable hikes year-round. She works with Community Development Organizations to curate community workshops aimed at reimagining use of vacant greenspace in underserved neighborhoods. Prior to starting “JOY” Kim served four years as a volunteer leader with Outdoor Afro (Ohio) where she built a network of Black outdoor enthusiasts and ally partners with park and environmental organizations. She holds a bachelor’s in Communications; she is an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist as well as a Tree Steward, and People for Trees Ambassador with Holden Forests and Gardens. Kim serves on the board of the Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards (SAWS) organization, Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) as chair of diversity and inclusion. She is also a founding member of Black Environmental Leaders (Bel) in Cleveland, Ohio. When not out getting her nature therapy, Kim enjoys spending time family and fur babies, hiking and gardening.
