Anthony Taylor

Anthony Taylor is a placemaker, developer, and nationally recognized advocate for equity in the outdoors, mobility justice, and cultural community development. As founder of Melanin in Motion, he has expanded access to outdoor recreation and winter sports for Black and Brown communities. Anthony currently serves as a Commissioner on the Metropolitan Council Parks and Open Space Commission, advancing regional equity in access to green space, and was appointed by Governor Tim Walz to the Governor’s Council on Aging Well. He also serves on the AARP Minnesota Executive Council and has been a leader in the Minneapolis Forward: Community Now Coalition, shaping the city’s recovery and vision for inclusive development after the murder of George Floyd.

As Director of Equitable Development for the Cultural Wellness Center, Anthony has played a pivotal role in major community initiatives. His leadership extends to the RiverNorth Broadway Innovation District, where he supports the creation of community-owned, mixed-use developments that connect economic vitality to cultural and human capital.

A lifelong cyclist and co-founder of the Major Taylor Bicycling Club of Minnesota, Slow Roll Twin Cities, and the National Brotherhood of Cyclists, Anthony embodies the intersection of recreation, justice, and public space. His work continues to inspire new models of equitable urban investment and outdoor inclusion across Minnesota and beyond.
