Anthony’s application statement: In a political climate that continues to attack a broad array of areas in need, including that of key environmental issues, I am inspired by Trust for Public Land’s four commitments of equity, health, climate, and community. With the background of an Eagle Scout, I have a strong affinity to nature and hiking, having trekked large portions of the Appalachian Trail, including in New York. As part of the LGBTQ+ community, I admire the organization’s involvement with the historical monument designation of the Stonewall National Monument, given its importance in representation of the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. Finally, your QueensWay project is of particular interest, given my Queens residence and support of expanding green spaces within it.
Anthony attempted to hike the Appalachian Trail during COVID. He got 300 miles in and then hurt his ankle and it wouldn’t heal. He would love to try again.
He is also getting a Masters of Public Admin at Cornell, He was a member of a board of an LGBTQ sports nonprofit and that inspired him to want to understand more about how nonprofits work.
