Warner Hill

Tucked into Massachusetts’s rolling Berkshire Mountains, Warner Hill stands proudly as an important outdoor escape—full of lush forests, wildlife, and trails lined by wild blueberries, blackberry bushes, and wood ferns.

From its 2,057-foot summit, visitors are offered sweeping views of the Housatonic Valley, Mount Greylock, and beyond. The iconic Appalachian Trail weaves straight over the hill—welcoming countless hikers every year.

But until recently, this wild landscape—which is crucial to the Appalachian Trail’s remote hiking experience—was at risk of sale and development. So in 2017, Trust for Public Land reversed this threat by working with the National Park Service and securing these 370 vulnerable acres. Warner Hill is now owned and managed by the National Park Service and will forever be publicly accessible for avid Appalachian Trail long-distance hikers and day-trippers alike.
