Creets Landing

Along the panhandle of Florida, Navarre is a quaint beachfront community known as one of the most relaxing places in the state. Its uncrowded, unspoiled, and unhurried natural beauty is beloved by both residents and visitors. But like many coastal communities, Navarre is at a high-risk for flooding and without proper natural mitigation techniques, will only worsen with the changing climate.

That’s why Trust for Public Land teamed up with Santa Rosa County and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to protect Creets Landing, 545 acres across two large properties along the East Bay River and a third parcel adjoining the Navarre Soccer Complex.

Creets Landing will offer more recreational opportunities that meet the demand of tourists and residents, like public hiking trails and wildlife viewing lookouts, meaning more people can benefit from this landscape’s natural power.

In addition, we’re helping build coastal resiliency and safeguard endangered and threatened species like the Red-cockaded Woodpecker and Reticulated Flatwoods Salamander, and the Eastern Indigo Snake and the Gopher Tortoise respectively. These wetlands are a natural buffer between waterways that can reduce flooding, water pollution, and erosion, as well as provide protection from storms and the effects of natural disasters.
