Trust for Public Land Applauds the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee’s Advancement of the Outdoors for All Act

Washington, D.C. – Trust for Public Land [TPL] applauds the unanimous decision of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee [SENR] to advance the Outdoors for All Act as part of the comprehensive America’s Outdoor Recreation Act.

The Outdoors for All Act, reintroduced by Senators Padilla and Collins, is a bipartisan effort to fund essential urban park projects, revitalizing green spaces and expanding outdoor opportunities for communities across the country. The Outdoors for All Act codifies the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) program into federal law and ensures that funding will go to communities without adequate access to local parks.

A statement from Katie Murtha, Vice President of Federal Affairs at TPL, on the Senate’s legislative advancement of the Outdoors for All Act:

“We commend the bipartisan support displayed by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and express our gratitude to Senators Padilla and Collins for their leadership in championing the Outdoors for All Act. This legislation acknowledges the transformative power of nature and the role it plays in promoting physical and mental well-being, fostering community connections, and protecting our environment. This significant step brings us closer to ensuring equitable access to urban parks and recreation areas for all Americans,” said Katie Murtha, Vice President of Federal Affairs at Trust for Public Land. As this legislation continues its journey through Congress, we remain committed to working collaboratively to expand access to outdoor spaces and strengthen the bonds between people and nature.”
