Our Ratings

Because we spend so little to connect everyone to the outdoors, Trust for Public Land is one of the country’s top-rated nonprofit organizations. Explore our standings below.

Land Trust Accreditation

Trust for Public Land is accredited by the independent program of the Land Trust Alliance. The accreditation seal is a mark of distinction in land conservation. It is awarded to land trusts meeting the highest national standards for excellence and conservation permanence.

BBB Wise Giving Alliance

Trust for Public Land meets all twenty of the Better Business Bureau’s standards for charity accountability.

CharityWatch (formerly the American Institute of Philanthropy)

Trust for Public Land gets an “A” grade from CharityWatch, which describes itself as “America’s most assertive, independent charity watchdog.” A contributing factor to this excellent rating is the fact that TPL spends only $14 to raise $100.

Trust for Public Land earns a bronze Seal of Transparency from GuideStar.

Support Our Work

In 2007, Charity Navigator discontinued rating 44 land trusts, including Trust for Public Land, after deciding that its rating methods were poorly suited to accommodate the large swings in land value that routinely occur as these organizations buy and sell land each year.
