The Rambling River Ranch Story

The Carson River in Nevada is a hot spot for outdoor recreation. With easy access to booming cities like Reno and Fallon, where the “Top Gun” Fallon Naval Air Station is based, this area is where convenience meets adventure. Whether you love to fish, kayak, canoe, hike, bike, picnic, or just take a walk with the dog, the Carson River has it all. On the lower stretch of the river, Trust for Public Land worked with a local family to protect 291 acres of farming and ranching landscape for future public use. The family had been a fixture of central Nevada life for well over 100 years, and if not for TPL, the property would have been converted to suburban housing. Protection of this land means that the viewshed and habitat corridor along the Carson River is safeguarded so that residents can continue to experience its magic forever.
