The Crown Jewels of Nevada

The Ruby Mountains in Nevada are a scenic gem. Known as the Swiss Alps of Nevada, this backcountry playground is a treasure trove for many adventure seekers. In the summer months, hikers, anglers, and hunters connect with its untouched beauty—blankets of wildflowers, pristine alpine lakes, and abundant wildlife. When temperatures drop, the Ruby Mountains really shine with glistening white peaks and fresh snow that entice even the most seasoned snowshoers, skiers, and snowmobilers. Access to this picturesque area is most feasible through Lamoille Canyon, and thanks to Trust for Public Land, we’ve guaranteed public access forever. Lamoille Canyon is the largest and most visited valley in the Ruby Mountains, and with our partners at the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management, we’ve helped protect more than 8,630 acres as an addition to the Humbolt-Toiyabe National Forest. TPL is working to protect the spaces Nevadans love most, and places like Lamoille Canyon connect more people to the joys and benefits that nature can bring.
