Chicamuxen Creek
Photo credit: David W. Harp A tributary of the Potomac River, Chicamuxen Creek is one of the finest examples of a fresh tidal and nontidal wetlands complex in Maryland. In 1995, TPL protected 381 acres of wetlands and uplands to create Chicamuxen Wildlife Management Area. Endangered plants, fish, beaver, colonial waterbirds, forest-interior dwelling birds, shorebirds, and waterfowl are all found on the property.
