Response to Governor Cuomo’s “Restore Mother Nature” Bond Act

Below is a statement in response to Governor Cuomo’s “Restore Mother Nature” bond act from Carter Strickland, New York State Director for The Trust for Public Land:

“Climate change is the existential issue of our time and we need to invest in natural climate solutions to ensure the economic and environmental prosperity of communities across New York State.  The Trust for Public Land applauds Governor Cuomo for proposing a $3 billion ‘Restore Mother Nature’ Bond Act for habitat restoration and flood reduction,” said Carter Strickland, New York State Director for The Trust for Public Land.

“We look forward to working with the Governor and the Legislature to craft an environmental bond act for the November 2020 ballot that will make New York State more resilient and protect our critical water and other natural resources.  We are confident that the Governor and Legislature will work with us and our partners to do so in a way that is equitable, as the most devastating impacts of climate change fall hardest on those among us who are the least fortunate.”
