Banana Republic Supports TPL for Earth Week

San Francisco, CA, 4/7/2008-The Trust for Public Land a national land conservation nonprofit, will benefit from an Earth Week promotion by Banana Republic.

The Earth Week promotion, which will run from April 22-27, will feature a donation to TPL of one percent of sales, up to $100,000, in stores nationwide and online. Banana Republic will also encourage customers to donate to TPL directly, and offer volunteer opportunities for customers in New York City and San Francisco.

Banana Republic’s Earth Week promotion is the first step in a $1 million commitment to TPL to help create new parks and playgrounds in America’s cities.

“Banana Republic is dedicated to reducing our environmental impact – and we think this is a solid first step,” said Banana Republic president Jack Calhoun. “We’re strengthening our commitment to sustainability by promoting a cause that is authentic and relevant to our customers.”

During Earth Week, Banana Republic customers are able to help in three different ways:

  • Banana Republic will donate to The Trust for Public Land up to one percent of sales, up to $100,000, from purchases made between April 22 – 27.
  • Customers can sign-up to volunteer at events in New York or San Francisco on April 27 alongside Banana Republic employees.
  • Or, customers can donate directly to The Trust for Public Land

All three activities can be accessed at www.BananaRepublic.com/Earthweek.

“Banana Republic’s commitment to greener cities is exciting,” said Will Rogers, TPL president. “Parks are essential for livable, lovable, and healthy cities, but private investments in creating new parks and playgrounds in cities are hard to come by, and Banana Republic is taking that challenge head on.”
