Business Intelligence Developer - Philanthropy Operations (Location Flexible/Remote)

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy Information Systems (PhIS), the Business Intelligence Developer (Developer) shares responsibility for system administration, data management, user support, and reporting of the ClearView CRM and related systems. The Developer supports the development of solutions that leverage The Trust for Public Land’s information, technology, and business processes for the entire Philanthropy department of about 100 individuals located throughout the U.S., and the organization at large.

The Developer will support the Director’s overall vision for ensuring that Philanthropy staff and the larger TPL internal customer base have the support resources they need to realize their goals. This position's work products directly impact our marketing and communication efforts in cooperation with data stewards in other departments. This person participates in end-user support functions, including business analysis, report generation, documentation, training, and service desk operation.

Responsibilities
● Develop and maintain ad-hoc or recurring reports, queries, dashboards, data visualizations, and scorecards that answer specific business questions;
● Create, execute, schedule, and maintain queries and scripts using SQL, PL/SQL, Windows batch scripting, and Python;
● Use GIT version control software to track and manage changes to code;
● Manage information moving in and out of the Philanthropy CRM, designing and implementing business rules or procedures for imports, and administering exports or automated procedures for integrations with other systems;
● Analyze, develop, and maintain CRM data solutions, including defining, implementing, and editing code to improve and facilitate access, understanding, and data integrity;
● Analyze and assess systems and processes, recommending and implementing enhancements to ensure Philanthropy systems support TPL’s short- and long-term goals;
● Develop and implement practical and resilient data governance measures;
● Identify and implement improvements to enhance data quality and meaning;
● Work collaboratively and cohesively with the PhIS Team, customers, and consultants;
● Interface with staff, administration, and subject matter experts to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions;
● Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and eliminate root causes for data problems or justify solutions to be implemented by others;
● Identify and assist with deployment of future data projects and serve as a liaison between consultants, vendors, and various technical, operational, and donor-facing teams;
● Exercise sound judgment and discretion to maintain confidentiality of privileged information; ● Partner with fellow team members to define, pursue, and execute best practices;
●Collaborate in developing and facilitating user training and ongoing support.

Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business analytics, a related field, or a significant and comparable combination of education, training, and experience;
● Minimum of 3 years proficiency in:
 ○ Database or information systems, to include data definition, manipulation, extraction, transformation, and load in and across varied, complex systems using SQL. Additional experience with Python and/or other relevant scripting languages, APIs, and toolsets is a plus;
 ○ Developing reports, dashboards, data visualizations, and scorecards using Jaspersoft Studio, SSRS, or other BI software like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker;
○ Analyzing, developing, reporting from, and maintaining CRM database systems and/or similar technologies;
● Demonstrated ability to solve problems with critical thinking;
● Strong analytical and research skills; ability to gather, evaluate, and develop well-reasoned conclusions and recommendations; ● Preference for experience with software version control using BitBucket or GitHub.

Compensation
As a full-time exempt employee, you will be eligible for The Trust for Public Land’s comprehensive benefits program, which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, three weeks of vacation annually plus 17 holidays, and a 403(b) retirement plan, currently with a company matching up to 7%. We offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience; the range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000 annually.
