Carrie Speckart

As Vice President of Human Resources, Carrie Speckart guides the strategic development and management of the organization’s HR function, including staff recruitment and retention, internal communications, and organizational culture. Carrie joined The Trust for Public Land in 2005 and spent the last 7 years as Associate Director of Human Resources before being promoted to lead the department in 2018. Prior to The Trust for Public Land, Carrie worked at Kaiser Permanente where she used social science research to improve operations and member satisfaction and helped to drive recruitment and diversity initiatives.

A native Californian, Carrie grew up in San Diego and graduated UC Davis with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in English. She then received a Master’s Degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. Her master’s thesis focused on team dynamics and conflict. She holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification designation and brings expertise in recruitment, organizational and professional development, diversity & inclusion, HR database management, and employee relations.
