Colorado’s landscape is as diverse as it is beautiful – eastern prairie lands rise into the mile-high city of Denver and continue up to the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains. Life in the West starts here, with numerous rivers flowing into 19 other states. Protecting this state’s natural resources and quality of life is The Trust for Public Land's top goal.
Over the next decade, one million new residents are expected to move here. The vast majority will live in the metropolitan Front Range from Fort Collins to Pueblo. With more people calling Colorado home, it’s even more important to preserve special places throughout the state. We work to guide development to areas best suited for it, while protecting those that make Colorado so appealing. We are focusing our long-term efforts on three key initiatives to make the greatest positive impact. Since 1981, we've conserved more than 105,000 acres of Colorado's wildlands, forests, greenbelts, neighborhood parks, farms, and ranchlands.
