Bluffton Oyster Company

For more than 80 years, the Bluffton Oyster Company has been harvesting oysters, shrimp, and crabs from the May River in Beaufort County, South Carolina. Now operating on county-owned land in the historic Old Town section of Bluffton, the oyster company's retail market is popular with locals and tourists alike. TPL helped the county acquire additional acreage at the site to create a park and improve public access to the river. The acquisition protected 8 1/2 acres slated for development with high density condominiums.
