Indian Spring

In October, 2005 TPL helped protect 35 acres that inspired Walt Whitman. The poet composed the last part of Leaves of Grass while staying at historic Indian Spring. The land, which was proposed for a housing development, also contains a well-used public trail, and its preservation will also protect local water quality. Funding for the $3.3 million purchase was provided by the Camden County Open Space Trust Fund and the state's Green Acres program, among other sources.
