For years, local conservation groups hoped to protect 42 acres on Monomoy River, the largest remaining piece of undeveloped shorefront in the Pleasant Bay Watershed. Working with our partners, The Trust for Public Land secured a federal Coastal and Estuarine Land Conservation Program grant, Harwich municipal funds, and private donations from more than 1,000 donors to complete the conservation effort in 2003. Protecting this land provides wildlife habitat, including more than 55 bird species, and helps safeguard Harwich's drinking water.
