The Sawtooth National Recreation Area (SNRA) offers some of the finest and most renowned outdoor recreation in the world, including fishing, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, cross-country skiing and backcountry camping. Its mountains form the headwaters of six important rivers that feed the Snake River and offer vital habitat for wildlife and four threatened or endangered salmonid species. More than one thousand lakes and glacial tarns are also found inside the recreation area. Traditional land uses in Sawtooth, including a century-old ranching history, have long been interwoven with public values, allowing for outstanding stewardship of these natural and recreational assets.

To date, TPL has completed seven conservation projects in the SNRA, from a one-acre parcel in Stanley to a conservation easement on the 1,800-acre Piva Ranch. We are currently working to protect the Rodeo Grounds Ranch on Valley Creek Road.
