The County of Hawai‘i announced today that it purchased more than 550 acres of undeveloped shoreline at Kawa, located in the Ka‘u District near the old plantation town of Pahala.

In 2011, the North Shore Community Land Trust partnered with The Trust for Public Land and the U.S. Army Garrison-Hawai`i, which operates nearby training bases, to develop a Greenprint that identifies conservation priorities in O'ahu's North Shore region.
