In Utah’s southwest corner, the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, and Mojave Desert converge in a unique desert environment home to endangered species like the Mojave desert tortoise and native plants that grow nowhere else on Earth. The Red Cliffs National Conservation Area and Red Cliffs Desert Reserve provide a way for people to experience this spectacular place on more than 130 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding.

But there is still much unprotected land within the parks. In 2013, The Trust for Public Land helped purchase over 40 acres of these inholdings to be managed by the Bureau of Land Management as part of the public reserve area. We plan to acquire additional inholdings for the reserve in 2014.
