Jones Mountain
Photo credit: Nancy Leach Jones Mountain is the spectacular backdrop to New Hartford, with rugged forest and a carriage road winding to an overlook of the village center. In 2006, TPL completed transfer of the 157-acre property from the Jones family, who had owned the land for five generations, to the Town of New Hartford for permanent protection. Protection of Jones Mountain conserves streams and the Farmington River, part of the Connecticut River Watershed.
