Will Rogers, President and CEO of The Trust for Public Land, issued the following statement in advance of President Trump’s first State of the Union Address tomorrow night:

“President Trump has a real opportunity to unite Americans behind the importance of America’s public lands tomorrow night,” said Will Rogers, President and CEO of The Trust for Public Land. “We urge the President to protect and expand our national park system – we need to fix our parks, and we also need to finish our parks. Addressing the maintenance backlog is important, but we must also reauthorize and provide $900 million to fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund – America’s most successful program to ensure access to public lands for everyone. We hope the president will experience a change of heart and support the Antiquities Act and the permanence of our National Monuments, and cease the constant attacks on our public lands. Our parks and other public lands attract millions of American families and visitors from around the world, generate billions of dollars in revenue, and enjoy widespread support from both Republicans and Democrats. We hope the president will make sure they’ll be protected into the future and remain accessible to all.”
