The Trust for Public Land on the GAO Report Stating the Trump Administration Broke the Law by Using Entrance Fees to Keep National Parks Open During the Government Shutdown

“Our treasured national parks should never be subject to political gamesmanship again,” said Diane Regas, President and CEO of The Trust for Public Land. “During a time when so many Americans are divided politically, the majesty of our national parks is something we can all agree to protect.”

 

During the government shutdown, The Trust for Public Land called on all national parks to be closed, an action that would have avoided decisions to divert funding from its intended use, and protected the parks and their visitors.
