THE TRUST FOR PUBLIC LAND ON CONGRESS’S FAILURE TO RENEW LWCF

San Francisco, CA

Diane Regas, President and CEO of The Trust for Public Land, today issued the following statement regarding the failure of Congress to reauthorize LWCF.

“Congress failed to do its job by neglecting to renew the Land and Water Conservation Fund during this lame-duck session.  This inaction represents yet another broken promise to the American people, and is a major blow to hikers, hunters, bikers, birders, and all of us who enjoy the outdoors. For decades, LWCF has provided a bipartisan solution to our most pressing conservation challenges—from protecting our most majestic public lands and national parks to building essential parks and green space in our cities. We look forward to working with the new Congress in January to immediately and permanently reauthorize and fully fund LWCF without delay.”
