Senior Day Care volunteers cultivate land in Waianae

Every week, 66-year-old Perry Barker leads a group of seniors on a strenuous trail to replace invasive species with native plants as part of the state's forest restoration project. The group, ranging in age from 49 to mid-70s, work in the nearly 3,600-acre lowland Honouliuli Forest Reserve that is home to dozens of endangered species – more than half of which are only found in Hawaii.
