The Trust for Public Land announced today that after a generous $40,000 challenge grant by Green Mountain Power and VELCO, only $45,000 remains to be raised to permanently protect the proposed Jim Jeffords State Forest.

LaRue Ranch, Upper Arkansas River Valley, Colorado

The Trust for Public Land worked with the LaRue family to secure funding to purchase a conservation easement for this 186 acre ranch in the Upper Arkansas River Valley. Conserving this land will preserve the scenic viewshed, wildlife habitat, ensure water quality, and help maintain the rural ranching economy.

Mercer Slough, Washington

With support from community members and city officials, The Trust for Public Land helped protect 100 acres of Mercer Slough for the parks department as an addition to an urban wetland park.

The Trust for Public Land today announced that the last large unprotected coastal forest between New York and Boston, a 1,000 acre parcel known as The Preserve, will be permanently protected, instead of being developed with houses and a golf course.
