Will Cowen

Will Cowen brings over thirty years of early stage company building experience as a CEO of several start-ups and as an early stage venture investor.

Will co-founded Long River Ventures in 2000 and has served as a General Partner in all three Long River Ventures funds with a total of $70 million under management. Will focuses on healthcare investments.

He serves, or has served, on the boards of numerous companies including Convergent Dental, Carevive, GetWellNetwork, lifeIMAGE, Medical Metrx Systems, MedVentive, Oculus Health, Parsagen Diagnostics, Phreesia, Solais, and Verax Biomedical.

Prior to Long River, Will founded NaviNet with backing from North Bridge, Atlas Venture, and GE Equities. NaviNet grew to be a leading healthcare IT firm streamlining transactions between healthcare payers and over 800,000 healthcare providers before being sold to several BCBS health plans. Prior to NaviNet, Will was CEO of venture-backed Pegasus Medical Technologies, an electronic medical records company sold to HBOC/McKesson (NYSE:MCK).

Early in his career, Will was a founder and VP/Business Development at consumer products company, Thermocell, which is today a $500 million dollar division of the Hunter Douglas Company.

On the investing side, prior to Long River Will was a Managing Partner of Interface Technologies and Firepond Partners, two early stage healthcare funds. Will holds a B.A. from the University of Colorado and an M.B.A. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Will lives with his wife in Hingham MA. They have two grown children Abbott (26) and Julia (22). They are all blue-water sailors and active downhill and x-country skiers. Back in college (many years ago) Will spent his summers working as a white water river guide in CA, Oregon, Colorado, and Utah. The family still keeps a number of rafts in Colorado and tries to get out west every year to do a river trip. Will serves as the financial custodian for First Parish of Cohasset and has served on multiple committees for the Town of Hingham.
