Ron Gafford

Ron Gafford spent forty-two years in the construction industry, including seven years in commercial and residential real estate development. The last three years he has been engaged in private investments and board membership in public, private, and non-profit boards. Ron’s career began after graduating from Texas A&M University (1972) with a degree in building construction. He had a brief tour in the Army Corps of Engineers after completing his basic training at Ft. Riley, Kansas (1971) and Engineers Officer Basic Training at Ft.Belvoir, VA (1972). He also completed the AMP, Graduate School of Business, Harvard University (1987).

Ron went to work as an estimator/project manager at Henry C. Beck Company – Dallas in November, 1972 and joined the Trammell Crow Family, in partnership with Ron Terwilliger, in February 1981 in Atlanta. Ron moved back to Dallas in 1987 to join Austin Industries. Ron spent the next twenty-five years first as Executive Vice President, Austin Commercial, and eventually Chairman, CEO and President of Austin Industries which included Austin Commercial, Austin Bridge & Road, Austin Industrial (Houston) and British American, a captive insurance company exclusive to Austin Industries. Austin became an Employee Owned company (ESOP) in 1986 and 100% ESOP in 2000.

Ron became a consultant to the CEO and Board of Directors in November 2012 and retired from Austin in October 2014. Ron continues today as an active board member and private investor. Ron has been married to Rebecca Moseley for 45 years and they have two children, David Gafford, Dallas, and Jennifer Daugherty, Denver. They also have four grandsons, Dean Gafford, Eirik Gafford, Finn Gafford and Owen Daugherty.
