Lenore Budd

An award winning trails and recreation advocate, Lenore has a personal passion for land conservation and the out-of-doors.  Her professional background is in mapping and fundraising.  At ARD, Inc., an international consulting firm based in Burlington, Vermont, she provided GIS services for a variety of natural resource inventories and analyses.  For eight years she served as the Manager for the Catamount Trail, Vermont’s 300-mile long backcountry ski trail.  She has authored numerous papers and publications, including The Catamount Trail Guidebook (8th and 9th editions). In 2011 she retired from development work at Shelburne Farms, a conserved 400-acre working farm and non-profit educational center devoted to promoting sustainability.

Lenore earned a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Natural Resources from Cornell University.  She is devoted to outdoor adventure, particularly hiking, cross-country skiing, biking, birding, and gardening.  For thirteen years she served on the South Burlington Recreation Path Committee and is in her seventh year on the Hinesburg Trails Committee, which she now chairs.  She is a Board member of the Hinesburg Land Trust.  Lenore is a member of Vermont Trails and Greenways Council and serves on the grant review committee for the VT Recreation Trails Program.  She advocates for local trails so that everyone can experience nature close to home.
