Interim Social Media Coordinator

Position Summary:

The interim Social Media Coordinator is responsible for supporting The Trust for Public Land social community to triage social media requests, assist with increasing awareness of the brand and improving engagement with our stories and mission. This position reports to the Digital Marketing Manager.


  • Work closely with Field Marketing Team to plan and execute social media content and campaigns according to annual marketing objectives.
  • Collaborate with Content Marketing and Creative Marketing Teams for social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Partner with Federal Affairs, Public Relations, Philanthropy, and Advocacy Teams to ensure that messaging is consistent or complementary across channels; utilize social channels for message testing that can be rolled out across channels based on success.
  • Build and maintain Social Media Calendar that integrates with larger content calendar.
  • Coordinate all social posts and respond to followers in a timely manner.
  • Utilize social listening tools and analytics to track/report metrics by channel.
  • Build and maintain actionable social media dashboard to optimize targeting, engagement and content; document and share hindsight (results and learnings).
  • Produce overview summaries for social media campaign that can be easily shared, referenced and integrated into overarching marketing campaigns.
  • Maintain relationship with Field Offices to nurture a network of local social media content creators; provide content toolkits, consultation, and analytics.
  • Identify and optimize opportunities for social referral traffic to TPL websites.
  • Stay current on evolving technology trends and make recommendations on best practices for content, social media, social fundraising, and mobile marketing


  • 2-3 years social media, community management experience with proven ability to acquire and engage followers
  • Excellent copywriting and grammar skills—strong ability to tell a story
  • Familiarity with analytics tools: Sprout Social, and Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
