Director of Digital Strategy & Engagement

The Director of Digital Strategy and Engagement will be responsible for leading the organization’s digital strategy, architecture and brand presence. This role will lead the transition to align the brand strategy and marketing goals against the organization’s digital presence across multiple platforms and departments. The position reports to the CMO.
  • Develop and implement an organization-wide digital roadmap that optimizes branding and engagement, sets a foundation for revenue generation and leverages resources housed in related TPL digital properties.  
  • Develop digital strategy and set digital priorities based on annual goals against the roadmap. Responsible for strategic and day-to-day oversight of the organization’s digital presence, including all tpl.org, related digital platforms and URLs, blog, social media accounts, online advocacy tools, CRM, and email program.
  • Develop strategies to drive digital engagement among target audiences; optimizing existing tools and identifying new, innovative tools and strategies.
  • Establish a digital dashboard for quarterly/annual reporting; lead the digital team transition to philanthropically focused, nimble, data-driven culture; ensure data-driven decisions across all digital channels.
  • Work with Digital Marketing Manager to develop effective marketing campaigns; ensure marketing campaign metrics achieve goals on time and on budget.
  • : Work closely with the Director Strategic Initiatives and Digital Marketing Manager to drive a coordinated donor engagement and advocacy strategy with philanthropy and federal affairs teams to improve targeting and drive campaign effectiveness
  • Serve on the Marketing Leadership Team; create a culture of collaboration, best practices and evaluation, while maintaining a balanced sustainable workload for the digital team.
  • Manage digital department’s budget and vendors and consultants against contract deliverables and SOW; create proposals for new/additional digital investments to initiate new work or accelerate current work, as needed
  • Serve as key liaison to drive internal digital priorities; support CMO initiatives with external engagements. 
 Qualifications:
  • 12-15+years experience leading teams with deep expertise in digital strategy & execution; at least five years in a similar role.
  • At least 5 years in a nonprofit setting driving digital strategies in support of fundraising/donor engagement/donor contact; direct experience developing proposals for increasing investments in digital a plus.
  • Proven track-record of creating compelling experiences for visitors that drive exposure, engagement, conversion efficiently and effectively.
  • Exceptional communicator, collaborator and project manager; skilled at translating complex technical lingo and processes into simple terms.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage to digital dashboards; experience using data to inform decisions and drive strategies.
