Aaron Vermut is an entrepreneur and business leader with over 20 years of experience in the technology and finance industries. He started his professional career as a senior consultant and database architect for Cambridge Technology Partners in San Francisco. After business school, Aaron was a Principal on the technology team at the the venture capital firm, New Enterprise Associates. After NEA, he co-founded and was a the Chief Operating Officer and later co-Managing Partner at Merlin Securities (sold to Wells Fargo in 2012). He was a Managing Director and the head of Prime Services at Wells Fargo Securities.
In 2013, Aaron became the President and a member of the Board of Prosper Marketplace, Inc. He assumed the role of CEO a year later in 2014 and held that position until December of 2016.
Aaron holds a bachelors degree in history and German language and literature from Washington University and an MBA in finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Aaron is active with several philanthropic organizations in San Francisco. He currently serves as a Trustee and Chair of the Development Committee at the Exploratorium, an inquiry-based museum for scientific learning. He also serves as the Vice Chair of the Board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area and now is a member of the California Advisory Board at The Trust for Public Land.
Aaron is passionate about art, science and nature conservation. He is an avid mountain biker, hiker, skier, art collector and science fiction nerd.
Aaron lives in San Francisco with his wife, Adriana, and their four children.
