OW Ranch
Credit: Patrick Cone
With Park City just a few miles away, development and subdivisions have been spilling eastward for years into the farming communities, threatening the rural landscape. In 2007, TPL was able to place a conservation easement on 140 acres of OW Ranch, buffering the farm from encroaching development. Then in 2010, TPL protected the remaining 60 acres, allowing the landowners to continue raising hay and ranching cattle like they have since the 1880s. And fish, bald and golden eagles, and other native animals will continue to thrive on this land and in the Weber River, which flows through the ranch.
