Utah

From the geological marvel of the great Salt Lake to the red rock in the south, from national parks to farmland, Utah has it all. Each year, thousands of visitors make the trek to Utah’s national parks. Few realize that the stunning vistas include numerous inholdings—privately held properties whose development would threaten fragile desert ecosystems. The Trust for Public Land is working to conserve these sites for their habitat and recreation value. In Salt Lake City, TPL is leading the effort to complete the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, already more than 100 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian opportunities. In the state’s northeast corner, TPL is helping ranching and farming communities protect their land—and way of life.
