Few places on Earth match the breathtaking beauty of the U.S. Virgin Islands: Their unique natural ecosystems and historical treasures make them a popular getaway spot. But the islands' popularity also threatens the health of the land. Construction of new roads and buildings is damaging fragile habitat and fragmenting landscapes.

In the face of rapid development, The Trust for Public Land is working to conserve natural and historic sites on all three islands—from expansive forested preserves at Maho Bay on St. John, to traditional estates on St. Croix, to a cherished historic park in the capital on St. Thomas.
