Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort County

The Marine Corps Air Station, one of the main economic engines in northern Beaufort County, wanted to create a buffer of underdeveloped land around the base. TPL helped Beaufort County acquire easements on waterfront and farmlands to help alleviate future traffic congestion; improve water quality; and preserve viewsheds, open space, and productive agricultural lands. The Beaufort County Rural and Critical Lands Program provided funding.
