Delaware State Forest, Blooming Grove addition

Named for the nearby Delaware River, Pennsylvania's Delaware State Forest is renowned for its remote glacial lakes and bogs and a lush variety of plants and wildlife. Located only two hours away from New York and Philadelphia, the forest attracts millions of visitors annually. Pike County conservationists wanted to add 310 acres in Blooming Grove to the state forest, expanding a seven-mile trail system developed by Pike County 4-H Club members and the Bureau of Forestry. The property will also buffer the White Deer Lake section of the state forest, protecting water quality at this popular boating and fishing lake. The Trust for Public Land purchased the land and in July 2012 transferred it to the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry, our second land acquisition to help increase Pike County's protected open space.
