In Oklahoma, The Trust for Public Land's conservation work has expanded national forests, recreation areas, and wildlife refuges to protect the best of the state's natural lands like the Chickasaw National Recreation Area and the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge. TPL is partnering with the city of Tulsa to help convert disused rail lines into community greenways—like the Osage Rail Corridor, which connects seven schools and three parks. Plans for further expansion of the Tulsa park system include an extensive network of greenways and a new central park.
